Hello Sisters and Brothers,
It is with great sadness that I must report to you the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. He was a true advocate for Labor, advancing many of the causes that have made being a Union Member much sought after. I remember hearing him speak at UAW Local 1A a couple years ago, he inspired the whole room to stand up for Union values and to fight for social equality. He will be missed by many.
Our prayers and condolences go out to his family and close friends. UWUA Local 223 and many other Unions are in debt to him for his leadership as a Labor Attorney, Organizer and President of the AFL-CIO.
Please observe a moment of silence to recognize him and his accomplishments for the working class. He represented Labor and now we must represent him.
In Solidarity & Your Sister,
UWUA Local 223
